Pastor Leslie has been serving Grace since 2015. She is not your "stereotypical Christian." On top of being a young-is woman, (which some find weird enough for a pastor), she is socially liberal, pro-choice, open/affirming, environmentally conscience, and believes in science.

Our Minister of Music: Morgan N. Hatfield (they/she)
Composer, multi-instrumentalist, and singer-songwriter Morgan N. Hatfield has been involved in church music from a young age. (At nine years old, their very first solo performance at church was "God is Bigger [Than the Boogie Man]" from Veggie Tales.) Their musical activities over the years at a number of churches around the Hampton Roads area have included playing piano, trumpet, and French horn; singing in choirs; acting in seasonal musical dramas; and leading worship.
As an eclectic composer, they have written for a variety of settings and mediums. Their works include:
Morgan graduated from Old Dominion University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Music in Music Composition. While attending ODU, they studied with Dr. Adolphus Hailstork, Marlene Ford, and Oksana Lutsyshyn. They were a member of the ODU Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra and is a plankowner of the Monarch Marching Band. As part of the Musical Theatre Workshop, they were in productions of Guys and Dolls and Closer Than Ever. In their spare time, they enjoy creative writing, reading and watching science fiction and fantasy, and pursuing other activities that unequivocally define them as a geek. |
Our Church Secretary: Jody Miller (she/her/hers)
Jody has worked as secretary at Grace since December of 2009.
Although born in Anchorage, Alaska, she has spent the majority of her life in Chesapeake. She is a graduate of Indian River HS and Virginia Tech. She enjoys reading, volunteering, a good practical joke, laughing with her husband, walking her dog, and making her teenage daughter roll her eyes. |
